AI Disclaimer

Last updated: January 1, 2026

Beacons IEP's AI features — including the IEP Health Score, Explain-My-IEP cards, and Grace, our chat companion — generate organizational and educational summaries based on the content you provide. They do not constitute legal advice.

What the AI does

  • Extracts goals, services, accommodations, and dates from your uploaded IEP.
  • Translates technical language into plain English.
  • Suggests questions to ask at meetings and items to watch for.

What the AI does not do

  • It does not give legal advice or make legal interpretations.
  • It does not represent you in disputes with schools.
  • It does not guarantee outcomes.

Language we use

Beacon uses phrases like “according to your uploaded IEP” and “schools are generally expected to” — never “the school must” or “your rights require.” This is intentional. The same IEP may be implemented differently in different jurisdictions.

Always verify

The AI may misread sections of your IEP. Beacon flags low-confidence extractions, but always verify summaries against your original IEP document before acting on them.

When to call a lawyer

If you're considering due process, mediation, a state complaint, or any other legal action, please consult a qualified special education attorney or advocate. Beacon is not a substitute for legal counsel.
